SUSAN R. ROSE is a Tony Award-winning theatrical producer, as well as a film producer. She was born and raised in Baltimore, MD., and graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Communications. While in Baltimore, she had the opportunity to work at Painter's Mill Music Fair and the Mechanic Theatre in an administrative capacity.

Upon graduating from college, Rose produced the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, at the historic Ford's Theatre in DC (1980). When it arrived on Broadway in 1982, Rose was the youngest person to have produced a Broadway show. The musical was an instant smash hit and Rose was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Musical.

Her other Broadway producing credits include David Rabe's Hurlyburly (Tony Award nomination, Best Play), Athol Fugard's Bloodknot (Tony Award nomination, Best Revival of a Play), and Larry Shue's The Nerd – all hits. Off-Broadway, she produced the Drama Desk Award-winning musical The Last Five Years (with Renee Landegger). Also with Landegger, she commissioned the World Premiere of The Secret Letters of Jackie and Marilyn (Pittsburgh Public Theatre) and Sabina (Primary Stages). Rose and Joan Stein co-created and produced the play Motherhood Out Loud, written by fourteen award-winning writers. Rose is a co-producer of the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of The Band’s Visit, Macbeth starring Daniel Craig and Ruth Negga, the Broadway production of The Who’s Tommy: The Musical, and Park Avenue Armory’s ILLINOISE (Justin Peck/Sufjan Stevens),
transfering to Broadway’s St. James Theatre April 2024.

Susan has enjoyed a successful film career as a producer. Her first film, A Child Lost Forever, was an NBC Movie of the Week, starring Beverly D'Angelo. Susan has produced movies for CBS, Showtime and Lifetime. Her movies include Mr. and Mrs. Loving starring Timothy Hutton, Best Friends For Life starring Gena Rowlands and Linda Lavin, the Emmy-nominated Cooler Climate starring Sally Field and Judy Davis, Custody of the Heart starring Lorraine Bracco, and the Emmy-winning Jack starring Stockard Channing and Ron Silver.

Susan has co-authored two children’s books
JOSÉ AND EL PERRO and JOSÉ AND FELIZ PLAY FÚTBOL with Penguin Workshop. These early readers are an introduction to the Spanish language for English speaking children and Bilingual families.

Susan is a member of the Producers Guild of America, Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and
the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
